music and PSA

Who would’ve thought that a small instance, a few words, could have such a long-lasting impact on someone? Apparently, not many people!

Music can move me like rarely any other form of art can. And whether it makes me feel ecstatic or sad, it has never actually made me fully cry.

What did manage to do it was a stupid, insignificant song altered to fit my bullies’ special performance perfectly, just for me.

I shan’t name the song, but just know, any small word that leaves your mouth has more impact on others than you’d ever think possible. And to the bullies feeling encouraged by this, first of all: ew, embarrassing! And second, it doesn’t add to your significance. Trust. It will come back as a ghost that haunts you. I’ve seen it happen before.

But anyway, for those of you with decency, common sense, and a conscience, I don’t want to scare you or make you overthink every small interaction you’ve ever had with anyone ever. But it would be wise to, you know, think a second longer before you say it.

Should I even start with the digital footprint?

Never mind! That song doesn’t make me cry anymore. And, if you were wondering, I’m totally not bitter about it, either.

But if you have any song that you can guarantee would make me cry (keep in mind, I’m a Pisces), for the sole power of art that moves you, let’s dethrone this awful memory in my mind. I’d love a good emotional substitute.

Rojie, you asked about a song that makes one want to cry or nearly cry (thanks for the prompt). Any suggestions?

A serene view of calm water at sunset, with soft pastel colors in the sky and distant mountains in the background.
doesn’t it look like a mirror of sorts?

_If you focus on who you are not, you will lose focus on who you are. Your life has a beautiful blueprint from God’s Word. If you always think you need to be someone else you will never get to a level of knowing yourself and discovering your potential. You will always find someone better than you at something but you will never find anyone better than you at being you. There is nothing as interesting as being you. There are others who try to be others until they lose themselves in the process._

_You are a unique seed! The power of a seed is not in its size but in the quality of its product. Remember, the fruits come from the seed. Good things come from within, the seed germinates from within. For growth to be realized, it has to be from within you. If you are looking for greatness outside there, then you are looking at the wrong direction. When you discover the greatness inside of you, it will attract the greatness outside._

  2. Words are so powerful! It’s sharper than swords, as they say. Hugs.

I’m glad you’re not silent anymore. Sometimes I cry listening to my worship songs, but it’s just me and my thoughts.

    1. That’s very much true. It’s just that people don’t care.
      Hugs.
They have that effect, the power to move you. What’s your favorite song?

      1. Exactly! I can’t easily pick favorites, but I’m listening to worship songs almost every day, and one of the songs I so like is Tim Hughes’s Everything.

      2. Those songs are sung in our church by our choir, so I don’t know if there are any recordings of it. Also, for a lot of worship songs, they are translated and sung in many languages, so you would know what the song is, even though you can’t pick up the words. If I ever find a recording of any, I’ll share so you can see what I’m talking about. The feeling is something that doesn’t need to be translated to be understood, anyway 😊

    1. Thanks for sharing that with me! I looked it up, and if I’m looking at the correct one, it’s really heavy. I’m glad you were able to get that from it.
It’s a difficult and long path to get out of it – to stop minding their words or letting them define you in any way. It’s especially difficult when you’re really young.

      1. That’s very true, especially the hidden parts of it that seep into your behavior as a result of it, that you’re not aware of. It takes work, but it’s possible! Cheers! 🫶

  3. An entrancing mirror, yes.
This question makes me realize how long it’s been since I’ve fully cried over music, though I do get teary quite often. For me, I think the emotion of music is diffused by how seldom I’m listening with headphones, or not multi-tasking. Should I stop and listen with full attention, I’d probably cry every day.

    1. I see your point. Whenever I listen to music while I’m doing something else, I cannot dedicate my mind to it, so it really becomes background noise.
