How could an app ever compare to my silly little journal that should never see the light of day?
That beige faux leather notebook knows the darkest depths of my soul. And it’s totally okay if I switch moods every two sentences or go on like a broken record.
That journal buried all my past selves. They are lying there in peace after we finally reconciled. There used to be a time when I couldn’t even think of them, avoided the topic, resented them.
My journal knows it all.
No app could bring me as much joy as a good notebook and a new pen would. Or, as much as my basil does.
It’s growing nicely, and there’s a wasp there who, I guess, found a home between the leaves.
But, also, on the note of apps… Well, now that I mention it – I like my notes app. Very handy! But other than that, I hate to be overwhelmed by a clutter of apps on my phone. That’s the only place I absolutely need to be minimalistic.
Also, I hate that everything is buzzing all the time and has the right to your presence at all times. No, I want to hide behind the screen and exist quietly. Let me scroll my Pinterest in peace!
And I like TikTok. I made it useful for me, so I feel like I achieved optimal usage there.
The one app I love is my NetGalley Shelf. I love having new books getting approved for review. And they made it pretty good. It’s really organized, easy to navigate, and the options while reading are so convenient. 10/10
But I hate my phone, and I want to throw it away and buy a Nokia.

Thank youu! And you’re right, these are tortoises 😅 we simply have one word for that in my language, sort of like umbrella term, so my mind does the same in English with no distinguishing! 😂😂

It’s Croatian! So, the word for turtle/tortoise would be ‘kornjača’ (pronounced: ‘CORE-nyah-chah’ with ‘ny’ like in ‘canyon’ and ‘ch’ like in ‘church’.) 😊

Do it! Though I don’t know how Duo would handle Croatian cases 😅 it’s also a language that has a strong Italian and Turkish influence because of the history.

This is from last spring, because my mom had a photo, and this year they are just not handling the heat well, so they’re in hiding. Some of these little ones are grown ups now 😊 and some of them we had to give away to our friends because male tortoise are very territorial and fight a lot! (and I mean – A LOT!!)
Okay, I won’t do it 🤝 (but I’m very tempted!) 😅

If they fight, are there any injuries that happen? Well, because they’re just turtles,tiny.
Are they invasive turtles? No matter what, I enjoyed their looks.

Oh, they bite! Not these tiny ones, but as soon as they are 2 years old (so, the size of a closed fist), it’s impossible for males to be together in one space. It gets rough!
They’re not invasive, but they are wild tortoise, it’s just that the environment is changing now, and they don’t have much space anymore. All of these big ones we found on the road over the years or somewhere unsafe for them, and we took them in, so they don’t get hurt and because we had the space.
My sister and my mom love them! They’re also very popular with kids 😄

If I’m near, I’d definitely get some.😁 I just love to have many pets. If they’re not so expensive to feed, I wish I have.

Well, mine would eat chocolate if we let them 😂 But other than that: lettuce, cucumber, tomato, some weeds that grow in the garden, and things like that 😊
I wonder how they would adapt to different environments, because mine, for example, want sand-like soil, do they can dig themselves in easier for brumation or to lay eggs, and then they also need shade, so bushes or whatever plants are a must, or big rocks that form a cave for them (for heat regulation), and then also the sun, because they are cold-blooded animals. Also, they like the rain – although not water animals, they still enjoy water, and they can live through snow once they are in the soil.
And no, they’re not expensive to feed, they like whatever vegetable you can give them.
Well, we are a bit far, but hopefully the photos suffice for now 😆 I love pets, too! I’d love to have a little baby goat (we used to have them when I was a kid), and I made an attempt to befriend a crow, but to no success 🤭😅

Nah, so expensive if you let them eat your chocolates.🤭Very, very funny. Its so hot in the Philippines right now, but I think they can survive here coz we have mud from our flowing well.
And besides we have some veggies, but still, I think I got problems for their food if I have them.😁
Now my cats get so choosy and we can survive with just vegetables, but they’re not, so thinking some viands, they’re always included in the planning. 😁
Gosh, it’s give and take. But it’s fun to have many pets. I even dream to have a very big farm, but yeah, it depends upon the universe 😅

The mental picture of goats eating biscuits made me smile! They are just so cute!
I believe they could survive there, too! Because they just need a soft soil for digging, everything else is not an issue. Although heat and humidity is what they are generally sensitive to.
And they are very adaptive when it comes to food, plus, can go without it for quite some time (ours are spoiled 🤭)
Cats can be that way, very posh and picky 😂

Thank you! 🤍 I feel like I’m anxious a lot, and then the buzz of the phone just overwhelms me, so I look for some peace and quiet in my journal, or my pets, or nature (luckily, I live in the countryside) 😊✨

The bit about switching moods every two sentences and it being fine is exactly why paper still wins. Also delighted by the wasp who has moved into the basil; every plant seems to come with a tenant eventually.
