friendship is kindness.

Kindness unfortunately doesn’t happen as often as I thought it would. I always assumed it’s a given, natural for people. But even the slightest glimpses of it make me believe that it’s possible for anyone if we try better.

I’m taken back to New Year’s Eve 2024. I was still in Lithuania, and I spent the NYE with my best friends. As of course it would happen, I was sick with a fever that day, and spent it inside, in pain and annoyed. I mean, out of all days…

My besties stayed with me, tucked me in with a warm blanket, took my temperature, made sure I was comfortable, and still made it unforgettable. To this day, that NYE was the best NYE, and one of the best days in my entire life.

We still watched the fireworks, cheered at midnight, and had fun. To this day, nothing has topped the happiness of that one.

Not to say that 2024 was the last time anyone was kind to me (because I have more examples of it, like with that road trip fiasco I talked about, or yesterday, for that matter, when I ended up in the ER), but it did give me two of the kindest people to have as my best friends. How lucky am I?

They’re also just kind in everything they do. I feel understood and seen, and that’s the kindest thing they could do – giving me their friendship.
