music and feelings

Art has always been an attraction that pulled me in, inspired me, and maintained a permanent place in my life. My weapon of choice was a pen, and I wielded it with passion. It was how I marked my existence in this world.

That was my output. Weirdly, what I took in, on a most intimate and intuitive level, was music.

I could never explain why music stood out to me so much. I don’t have a musical ear. I don’t have rhythm. I don’t even sing in the shower. (I’m probably missing out.) But be it as it is, music is the art I turn to most.

Schopenhauer argued that all art is merely representational and allegorical except for music, which is the closest thing to pure will.” […] Not in its total abstraction from everyday phenomena, but in its ability to pierce through to the center of them. That shining, cloudless plane of truth on which nothing else matters.

– KATABASIS, R. F. Kuang

I was listening to my comfort playlist, and I just felt so elated, you know? It’s the frequency, I guess, that works the same way as the sea waves’ negative ions. The unbelievable calm.

Because it’s intuitive, I don’t look for words to describe music. Instead, I’d like to ask you to share your favorite music. It could be your favorite artist, album, song, or anything related to music.

Here’s a list of some of the songs that are very dear to me:

  1. Completamente – Thegiornalisti & Tommaso Paradiso
  2. Dreams – The Cranberries
  3. Piccola anima – Ermal Meta, feat. Elisa
  4. Yafa – Lana Lubany
  5. Ponovo zajedno – Massimo
  6. Fantasmas – HUMBRE
  7. Sauvignon Blanc – Rosalia
  8. Salvavidas – Gara Durán
  9. Trag u beskraju – Oliver Dragojević
  10. River flows in you – Yiruma

There are many more, but these come to mind first.
