Well, now you have. Primošten is a beautiful little town, an hour or so north of Split. Its old town is tucked on a peninsula that looks like a bubble – a perfectly round sketch of narrow alleys, stone houses with bright green or gentle blue window shutters, and a church peeking above the line of houses on top of the hill.
We decided on a little girls’ trip there to make use of the nice sunny weather that no longer looks like summer.
I remember being in Primošten a few times as a kid, but I only remember the beach and the kids we used to play with.
This time, we could enjoy the town, good food, and some peace.
The old town is tiny, so whatever alley you start with, it will all lead to the same place. There’s literally no space to get lost in, only plenty to discover and enjoy.
So many cute shops sell stunning jewellery, souvenirs, and handmade products. There are also many restaurants for such a small space, but it doesn’t feel too crowded.
We chose Konoba Joso for lunch, and it turned out to be the best choice because no one else was there. We had the whole terrace for ourselves, and the food was amazing.
After a delicious and filling meal and a mandatory cigarette break, we continued our day down a promenade, marveling at such a beautiful day.
Coffee was a must, so we stopped at a cafe that was right by the sea. Our minds were soothed. Watching the waves crash into the beach, a guy (quite successfully) balancing the SUP board in such conditions, a sparrow jumping gleefully around the tables, and an occasional dog to gush over was just what we needed. It was so amazing to sit in silence and enjoy the fresh air.
A bit before sunset, we drove up to Oaza. It’s a restaurant with some amazing wine (I don’t usually drink white wine, but this one was so good!) and the most stunning view. A table next to us was four girls from a conference, also there to enjoy the view and some wine, and the conversation, which we couldn’t not overhear, was hilarious – very Balkan-core. We were overjoyed, and a bit giddy from wine. There was laughter, over nothing in particular, and music playing shyly over the speakers.
That was all! A fun little trip to get away from reality and enjoy the beauties of our region. If you’re ever in Split, try to squeeze this in your itinerary.
