Twins are a bond that’s made by a divine stitching of the two souls, and then those stitches get ripped when you’re born on this earth, but you can still see the rough edges that belong to one piece.
– Oh, no! I only have one left! –
My sister runs out of her room to tell me the awful news that we only have one cigarette left. So, we share!
We sit on the closed terrace. The sun is pouring in through the glass, and the AC is broken. The smoke swims between us, and we sit in silence.
Time goes by, and in the smoky snake we see the trajectory of our desired lives, a vision we are yet to unlock. The vision dissolves in a minute in our minds, replaced by muffled curses from those who won’t let us outgrow them.
I have so much love for that girl. I think that’s the first thing that made me so angry so young – wanting better for her. For both of us.

She comes to my room, picks a random book up from a pile on the floor where a shelf was supposed to go. She reads it some fifteen minutes later, confused as I had been when I first picked it up.
Her favorite thing is to use my room as her spare one. She comes back from work and takes a nap in my bed. Never mind that her room is right next door.
…
Funny, this time, August has already passed.

But im still thinking if really a real twin sister, not just an online sister, as I have online blog sisters here.
How wonderful to have twins!

Oh, sorry for the confusion! 😅 So, I have a real life twin sister (we don’t look alike, she’s two minutes older), and a younger brother, and three best friends (that are not on here) that I consider my sisters 🥰 So if I ever reference any of those, now you’ll know!
It is! I cannot describe how much she means to me!

Stay sweet to your twin sister! It’s awesome that you’re not identical that for sure surprised a lot of people. Thanks for this lovely glimpse into your family.

We read each other’s mind sometimes, that’s pretty shocking for people already. 😅
Aw, thank you! 💙

If I Could Go Back, I Would Never Fall for You
If I could go back in time, I would never fall for you.
Not because I regret loving you.
I do not.
What I regret is how much of myself I gave away while loving you.
I loved you so deeply that your happiness became more important than my peace.
Your needs became louder than mine.
Your presence became something I was terrified to lose.
And somewhere in that love, I stopped protecting myself.
That was my biggest weakness.
Not loving you.
Loving you without limits.
Loving you without boundaries.
Loving you so much that I forgot I was supposed to exist inside that relationship too.
So if I could go back, I would still honour what I felt.
But I would love differently.
I would love you without abandoning myself.
Because real love should never require you to disappear just to keep someone else.

That opening line about twins being “stitched” together and still carrying the rough edges of one piece is such a beautiful way to describe that bond. The whole piece has this quiet, hazy warmth to it, like a shared memory more than a story.

I don’t know how else to describe that bond – it transcends the sibling bond. It’s a whole lot of reminiscing, which often happens in those moments we sit in silence together. Thank you, Khadija!

It really does sibling bonds like that translate across languages and lives, I think. Thanks for sharing something so personal!

You’re right! It can be something both universal and intimate. Thank you for listening! I’m glad it resonated with you!

Exactly that universal and intimate at once. Thank you for writing it. 💛
