enjoying the scenery

A serene beach scene featuring calm waters, a small boat anchored near the shore, and a tree branch in the foreground under a clear sky during sunset.

Whenever I get a moment to sit somewhere peaceful, I hear Sophie’s voice in my head. Like the moment they got to Star Lake.

When you’re old, all you want to do is stare at the scenery. It’s so strange. I’ve never felt so peaceful before.

Yesterday, I had my driving lesson, which I did well. Better than I hoped, actually, but the day did start with some dizziness. It took several coffees to get me going.

But then we visited our friend and her baby boy. We walked along the promenade as the waves broke the sunset light on the shore. It was so beautiful. Such a peculiar color. I’ve never seen aquamarine so prominent in the water a few feet from us.

The sunset was the most beautiful one. The one that made me want to take up a brush and play with the canvas as an homage to the artistry in the sky.

Hours went by, and we didn’t even notice. We saw the day off and went home in the evening, still numb from the gentle but brisk wind.

I’m surrendering to silence more and more. All I want is to enjoy the scenery.

    1. Thank you! I need to let go of my fear!! 😅
That’s so true! I could sit there for hours and do nothing. There’s science there that explains it, but all I know is that it’s the most incredibly calming place to be! Cheers! 😄

  1. This is so beautifully written 🤍 Sometimes, the simplest moments in nature bring us the deepest peace. That sunset sounds magical, and I love how you’re learning to embrace silence and just be. 🌅🎨

    1. She was the most adorable!! Didn’t want to pet, but she stuck around 🤩 It was! It started off bad, but ended in the best way with a beautiful sunset and the best company!

      1. Glad you do! It’s been raining a lot this week, so I’m stuck inside, but it would’ve been lovely to go for a walk and be in nature and enjoy the scenery, and maybe meet another cat 😄

      2. Here, too. Always raining, but I’m starting to stay alive and excited coz it’s the weekend again. I can walk early, not be tied up by morning chores. Stay warm.

      3. That is nice! Weekend has that calming rhythm. I was a bit all over the place, but being kind to myself, and it’s sunny now!
