About The Herbalist
What I liked from the first page was how Morrison pulls us in with a chaotic scene, and then makes us travel with Eden to a place that will actually turn her life around. It really lets the reader go through that change of scenery – like that perfect transition from summer to fall!
One other thing I commend her for is the characters’ distinct voices and personalities. Often in this genre, I find the story is grazed on a very surface level, so even the characters blur into one. They talk the same, have the same mannerisms, and you can’t really tell them apart in the dialogue unless the author reminds us by putting their name there.
That wasn’t the case with this book, and it created a lovely dynamic where you got everything from heartfelt to innocent, sad, funny, inspiring, and comforting. You have characters to root for, and those to… well, not despise, but certainly not like.
The Herbalist had both maturity and playfulness, all wrapped up in a story of healing (boy, does that word carry a strong meaning in this one!), magic, family, learning, and finding exactly what you need, but exactly when you least expect it.
It really has everything you need to make this your new fall favorite! The Herbalist is out on October 9, so it’s just the time to preorder and enjoy this cozy, lovely, hug-in-a-book fall read!
